Tristan Bartolini, HEAD – Haute école d'art et de design de Genève, developed a new system of typographic characters which transcends gender binarism in the French language. Bartolini redesigned characters from an existing font, Laurenz Brunner’s Akkurat, so as to make some of the letters interlock. While they remain readable, the gendered endings of the words escape the dichotomy of gender, or the precedence of one gender over the other.
